Iran embassy in Japan hosts screening session of an Iranian film themed on tragic incidents in Hiroshima and Sardasht.  

'The Legend of Bonasan: The Genie in the Lamp' was screened on Thursday at the Iranian embassy in Japan with honorable guests in attendance.

The film is directed by the Iranian director Habib Ahmadzadeh.

The powerful film connects Hiroshima to Sardasht, serving as a poignant reminder of two tragic events that occurred in Japan and Iran.

People in Hiroshima and Sardasht share a tragic history as they have both fallen victim to devastating weapons of mass destruction.

Through its compelling narrative, the film delivers a message that resonates with audiences worldwide, a rave review said.

Writer-cum-director Ahmadzadeh was also quoted by the local media as saying that his directorial debut was produced in appreciation of Japanese doctor Shizuko Tsuya’s support for Iranian people injured in chemical warfare.

Famed Iranian actor of this film, Parviz Parastouei, once said in a press conference, "The joint Iranian-Japanese production is a tribute to peace. Many people in the world do not know that there are still many chemical attack victims in Iran."

He noted that the former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, used chemical weapons against civilians in Sardasht (Iran) and Halabja (Iraq) during the 1980s Iraq-Iran war.
